My name is Becky and I am a person in long-term recovery.

Creating artwork is a way for me to regain the things I’ve lost. I started drinking and drugging when I was 13 and got sober at 23- my sobriety date is August 1st 2007.  My work involves the synthesis of seemingly disparate parts, a hodgepodge of materials, a dialogue between higher and lower selves, past and present, sadness and joy.

There is no shame in what I have been through, or what I’m going through now. My trauma has become resilience and I can speak up through my artwork. I hid from the world when I was drinking and drugging. I don’t need to hide anymore.

“I was to know happiness, peace, and usefulness, in a way of life that is incredibly more wonderful as time passes.” -Bill Wilson
